Voight Kampff Tests

A reference to Blade Runner - the book (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep) or the movie - in which detectives would determine if a given person was either an android or a human based on their responses to a series of questions. The questions are designed to provoke an emotional response, and the detective would measure a wide variety of factors.

The movie never makes it clear whether androids have a more exaggerated or less exaggerated response than a human would. The book, on the other hand, spends a lot of ink on the concept of emotional affect: androids are held to be incapable of a normal person's level of compassionate emotional involvement with the world, so a VK test is designed to assess a subject's visceral, involuntary response to emotional stimuli--to determine whether the subject's apparent empathy is real or faked.
