A 'tabletop' is a roleplaying game in which most or all of the action is described verbally, and the physical actions and positions of the players do not have any effect on the system. Many, though not all, tabletop games simulate unpredictability through the use of randomizers of some kind (dice, card drawing, etc.) which would be unwieldy in a LARP. Also known as 'pen(cil)-and-paper' games.
