The Ageless treatments usually guard against disease as well as preventing the degenerative conditions of time. One of the Ageless in Providence, a woman named Patricia Kennedy, fell ill about a month ago. The disease was one of the many pre-cataclysm diseases that had been easily cured in those days, but now with the decline in medicical knowledge could be quite serious. She died three days ago, and her funeral was held last night, attended by local Ageless, socialites, and her mortal husband of five years.

Patricia Kennedy wasn’t a particularly well-loved member of the Ageless community. She was an inveterate social climber, a constant complainer, never content with her lot in life. Her recent marriage to Franklin Kennedy, the President’s Chief of Staff, was one of a long string of marriages to politicians and wealthy businessman. She was an insufferably vain woman as well, always wanting the finest clothes and jewelry.

Nevertheless, her passing could be a cause for some concern. No Ageless has been known to die of disease before. On the other hand, perhaps she was just unlucky in her particular blend of Ageless treatments, or perhaps in her vanity she was even trying some sort of new treatment. Some in the local Ageless community see this as a reason to be worried, others chalk it up to bad luck on her part. Still others, believing that a death from disease is impossible, suspect fouler play.
