Second Dawn:El Dorado

El Dorado is a planned community, built along the glittering turquoise sea. It was founded by a group of people who had lived through the chaos of the Cataclysm, and decided to start anew. Shortly after being founded, the community discovered a benign Artificial Intelligence which had survived the dark times. They submitted themselves to rulership by the AI, and have prospered ever since. This AI is known as “Rutledge the White,” because she was made with white science instead of black. She never grows old and will never die.
El Dorado currently has about 1000 community members. The core value embraced by all is that of sustainable living – never taking more than you can produce, living cleanly. El Dorado has a fairly high level of technology, unknown by most of the rest of the continent. Every building has a large panel of solar cells installed on the top. This solar energy powers electric lights and low-watt microwaves. Infinitesimal machines extract drinkable water from the ocean. Food consists of a variety of seafood, and hardy crops such as beans and prickly pears which grow in the desert. Nobody ever travels beyond the town’s walls, as children learn tales of monsters who roam the wilderness, once-men transformed to beasts by the Cataclysm long ago.
Recently, Rutledge the White has informed all that she wished to depart on a mission to the far-off Northeast. An unheard of thing was happening there – a ship was being launched into Outer Space. She drafted plans for a Zepplin to get to the Northeast, as it would take many months and be very dangerous to travel by other ways. It is a grand adventure, for until now no one from the outside had entered or left El Dorado.
Rutledge the White has asked those traveling with her to far-off lands to not let anyone know she is your AI; they may fear that she is a creature of black science, and act foolishly. She has asked you all to refer to her as your leader or high priestess, and to tell all others that the AI itself remains back in El Dorado.
