Procon 2007 Event Schedule

From EryriWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

This is the wiki page to help organize Procon events for Procon 2007. Please slot yourself below and note the following:

  • The time slots are seperated into the 4 hour block of 11AM-3PM and the 3 hour block of 3PM-6PM. While this isn't a hard and fast rule, keeping to those slots will keep you from stepping on someone else's toes.
  • Wilson Hall has fewer slots as there is less space available- think hallway with carpeted classrooms.
  • If you want to have media service to unlock their equipment for showings, movies, etc. please e-mail me and I will contact them to get it unlocked.
  • Feel free to move your slot around as you see fit. This is especially true for GMs who want to participate in other games and/or events.
  • I will be working with Ilya on getting this put onto the FGS ProCon website on Sunday, Feb. 11th. While this isn't a deadline persay, we would appreciate finalizing your time slots by then to reduce headaches.

[edit] A Promise in the Rain

One to Five Players

GM: N. Ford

"It is said that the musings of the human mind have a tendency to slide away from those topics it is not disciplined enough, or brilliant enough to encompass. It can be equally said, however, that they have a tendency to avoid those topics it is wise enough to fear.

"In the spring of 1927, a man and a woman go out for a night on the town. He is a wealthy financier. She is the eldest daughter of an even wealthier widower. In the greasy rain the following dawn, he is found dead - a spike of unnatural quality driven through his throat. Of her, there is no trace.

"There are few who could truly face such a case without fearing for their sanity. The police are not amongst them. So a grieving father must turn to others; but what is to become of the souls bent to such a task? What will they find? What will they learn? And in learning it, can they turn back?"

A Promise In The Rain is a horror story set in the 1920s. It uses the ORE Nemesis system, with some minor modifications. Further questions can be directed to the GM at apromiseintherain@eryri.org.

[edit] The Snow Princess

Five players and one GM, viz. Matt Mitchell

Ryme’s a lone and frozen city. It’s really quite beautiful, when the sun climbs over the mountains and brings a cold white light to the streets and squares and the King’s palace. But it’s not in a lot of the tourist guides. The nearest starport is quite a way south, and it turns out that the only way to Ryme from there is a sort of sledge, an ornate enclosed thing pulled by a great shaggy animal with three sets of horns. The driver said it was odd, the five of you coming at once--he only makes a run to the port once every few days, but even so he generally gets one or two passengers at most. The answer to that riddle’s a riddle in itself, though: the clasp of his cloak is a little jewel made of goldwire.

One of the most valuable substances in known space, to any civilization that uses computers--and the citizens of Ryme use it for trinkets! They say they make it into little picks, to chip away the ice on their kvass-glasses! That’s the sort of rumor that’ll draw alien adventurers from all quarters . . . which is why you’re here. You think.

“The Snow Princess” is a fantasy/adventure/sci-fi/fairytale sort of game, using a diceless trait-based barely-a-system that I’ve employed in the past. You can contact me at matthew.mitchell@erg.com OR iralith@comcast.net OR 617-899-4118.

[edit] BlizzCraft: Dragons of Time

Mackie Coard as GM

4-7 Players

Blown by fierce winds, sand whips about you, sent from the dunes of the desert Tanaris. The "Timeless One", your master, has summoned you here from your normal duties of guarding the time stream from intruders. Part dragon, part mortal, you and those like you stand before the great bronze wyrm Nozdormu, Aspect of Time. He seems strained and disoriented as if bearing some great burden. You wait.

"My... children... The time stream is in danger as never before. A demonic, flaming spawn of chaos has embarked on a chilling quest that will annihilate reality as we know it and may jeopardize all Craft. He is contaminating the time stream of this world and others, causing near irreparable damage. You must find and stop him while I hold reality together as best I can."

"Your journey begins on a world named Aiur, governed by a race known as the Protoss. My three aids that I recently found - Erik Ingimar "the Swift", Baleog Gunnarr "the Fierce", and Olaf Egill "the Stout" - will guide you on your journey and supply you with everything that you might need. I would see his face before his end so that I might tell him in person that his madness ends here, betrayer."

BlizzCraft: Dragons of Time is a game that any fan of Blizzard games (Strategy and RPG) will likely appreciate. The game uses a simplified d20 system and can take anywhere from 4 to 7 players. The pre-generated characters are accomplished in power and capabilities. A major feature of the system is the inclusion of Craft Points, which enhance the options and power of player characters.

If you are interested in playing, please send me an e-mail at mcoard (at) gmail (dot) com so I can gauge interest and send you more information. Please include any prior knowledge you have of d20 and/or Blizzard products.

[edit] (3PM-6PM)

[edit] Red & Black

Hosted by Adam Kenney; GM'd by no one.

Any number of players (including Adam)

This is an experimental GM-less tabletop of my own devising - somewhere between a normal roleplaying game and a collaborative storytelling game such as Once Upon A Time. It uses ordinary playing cards to represent characters, mediate conflicts, and represent players' influence over the game. Scenes and characters can be considered "investments" to acquire more cards - if your scene generates a lot of conflict, or your character is sought-after in many scenes, your influence over the story will grow. The setting, plot, and characters are all created fluidly during play as players spend their influence to define the gameworld, introduce characters, and begin scenes. Marvel at the group's creativity as you collaboratively invent a world with the other players in record time! Scoff at old-fashioned tabletops that give one player all the power, but come prepared to proactively make things up - all for the good of the story!

Email sn0wshrew [at] gmail [dot] com if you have questions.

[edit] The Way Home

GM - Ilya Medvedev

4 (maybe 5) Players

2114 AD. Several light years from Earth.

At first it was very exciting to be on the VonBraun, the first faster-than-light starship in human history. After the novelty of this first trial voyage wore off a bit, the tension between the TriOptimum scientists and other civilians on the VonBraun and the military on its armed escort, the UNN Rickenbacker, became quite obvious. While it did not get beyond a few disciplinary problems in these past few months, it seems like everybody was waiting for something critical to happen.

Luckily, that is when the ships received a distress beacon from Canopus 5 - a planet millions of miles outside of colonized space. A few days ago you reached the planet and some of the top scientists and heads of TriOptimum went down with a military escort. They returned after a full day of exploration, cleared an entire deck of the VonBraun of all personnel and suspended experiments there. Only a few scientists and the big shots from the military and TriOptimum have been there for the last couple of days, though it seems like they are letting more people return now. Everything has been very hush hush and all you've heard is that there might have been some breakthrough scientific discovery on Canopus 5. There certainly seems to be more military on the ship now than before, and not just around that deck.

Just a few hours ago you were sitting in the cafeteria, starting your meal when the onboard AI made an announcement that a "dangerous materials leak" has occurred. Clearly someone in the military is bored enough to yet run another drill... You got together with your assigned emergency group of table companions and went to nearest safe room. You all finished your lunch from the rations and waited for the drill to be over. These rooms are automatically locked from the outside for 24 hours to prevent anyone from leaving before the emergency is over. Usually these drills are over within an hour or so, but no one has come to let you out so far and you are wondering if something might be wrong after all. There have been some strange noises and garbled messages over the intercom, though you have not been able to actually raise anyone to talk to, as it seems to be malfunctioning. But in a few minutes the automatic locks should be disabled and you will be able to find out exactly what is going on...

"The Way Home" is an adventure horror one-shot set in the System Shock 2 world a few days before the video game starts. System will be light and homebrew (via extensive consultation with Adam K). If you are interested email the GM - ilya.medvedev [at] gmail (dot) com

[edit] Video Program: Babylon 5

Org: Dana

Highlight episodes from J. Michael Straczynski's famous sci-fi series. "There is a hole in your mind." "What do you want?"

[edit] (3PM-5PM)

[edit] Boffer Fighting- Freestyle and Practice

What could be better for getting out those frustrations than beating one each other with padded weapons! Well, maybe a round of Raving Rabbids, but aside from that... One of the rooms will be cleared on the top floor of Wilson for sparring with the FGS armory. There isn’t a huge selection, so you are encouraged to bring your own, and any extras for the less fortunate to use would be appreciated. I will be giving a brief tutorial in nTeraction and “gimp” rules for those unfamiliar with the rules.

[edit] (5PM-6PM)

[edit] Boffer Fighting- GIMP Tournament

Time for the first annual Procon Boffer Tournament! We will be using the “gimp” system- each limb hit disables it (or a “maim”) and a chest hit is instant death (head or throat shots do not count). Florentine (sword and dagger) or single-sword styles only for best out of 3 rounds. To the winner- eternal glory! At least 'till next year.

[edit] (6:30PM)

[edit] Potluck at Smithy-B

The annual potluck for ProCon- break out your cooking skills to bake and cook what your heart desires! Only those who brings something to the potluck may partake in the feast, so be sure to let everyone know what you'll be bringing!

[edit] "The Spanish Ambassador's Daughters"

6 players

"The Spanish Ambassador's Daughters" is a BurningWheel one-shot inspired by Alexandre Dumas' portrayal of 1600's France.

Paris, sometime in the early 1600's. The Captain of the Musketeers lies on the brink of death, his corrupt and pompous son poised to take his place. Was he behind his father's sudden illness? The Spanish Ambassador is arriving in town, accompanied by his daughters. One is a famous surgeon—can she save the Captain? The other is a femme fatale with her own agenda—will she succeed in her nefarious plots? The Ambassador himself is a very powerful man who has the ear of two kings—why is he really here? And a mysterious duelist, respected by the Musketeers but known only by a false name, sits quietly in the corner of a tavern, nursing dreams of revenge along with his beer... will they come true?

This game is intended as an introduction to the BurningWheel Fantasy RPG. No prior knowledge of the system is required (bring your d6's, though!), and there are few fantastic elements to the game. The focus will be on intrigue and Dumas-style derring-do.

[edit] Buffy, The Musical, Sing-Along

Organizer: Nitsan

Watch Buffy The Vampire Slayer's Musical "Once More, With Feeling" and sing along with the cast.

A short introductory explanation will be given before we start for those of you wondering what a Vampire Slayer is and why anyone would name their daughter Buffy, or more complicated things, like what the shit hitting the fan in this episode actually is. Lyrics will be provided for anyone who wants them.

Inspired by similar musicals at the Coolidge Theatre.

[edit] Brown Rogue Dance Project

organizers: Lauren A., Rachel O., David C.

Welcome to Ballroom dancing, FGS style. If you've ever wanted to tango with danger, rhumba with rhythym, or waltz until the room *really* spins, here's your chance!

Beginners are welcome, since very few of us actually know what we're doing. Luckily, we've got some experienced people who are willing to teach the rest of us. It's the mid 21st century, and the world has changed for the better in all ways! You are a group of high school sophomores going on a field trip. You’ve been been looking forward to this trip all year. Who knows what possibilities await away from your parents and under minimal adult supervision.

This game can take as many players as have interest, and may have some similarity in feel to past Paranoia larps.
