Alpha Complex is a fine and wonderful place. Citizens are upright and productive, brave Troubleshooters have lasers that kept the other Citizens Safe (but they are always Safe anyway. Do you doubt that you are Safe, Citizen?), treason is kept to an Absolute Minimum, and Bouncy Bubble Beverage is had by all. Everyone knows that in case of Accidental Unfortunate Demise the next member of their clone family is exactly like them, so their loss need not be mourned. All is under the benevolent eye of the 8 High Programmers who run Alpha Complex. Everyone is Happy. (Are you Happy, Citizen?)

Unfortunately of late, certain elements insist on making things harder for everyone. There are rumors (Rumors are treason) that the fanatical Eliminators of the Eastern Sectors of Alpha Complex (see map) decided that the Citizens of the Western Sectors had been corrupted by infestations of Commies and Mutants, traitors all, and had to be cleaned up a bit. This has led to some unfortunated incidents where Citizens believed that the very TroubleShooters there to keep them safe were in fact out to Eliminate them. There have been brief disturbances of course, but nothing to be worried about. Back to work Citizen. Be Happy (not being Happy is treason). The sound of sizzling flesh you hear is only the noise of repairs being done on the heating ducts.

Now three elite Troubleshooter teams, Alpha Complex's finest, each sent off on three separate missions against invading hordes of Commie Mutant Traitors (nothing to see here Citizen, you are perfectly safe) are caught in a freak accident. A sudden ionic distortion flux (dubbed by those who witnessed it as "that freaky dark storm thing") transports some members of those three teams (from the Eastern and Western sectors both) to he dusty halls of a forgotten part of Alpha Complex....

They find a lost base of Troubleshooter operations, some fragments of recorded missions. Soon the separate corps of unfortun... elite, unluck.... highly trained, and disastrously unsupp.... spectacularly equipped Troubleshooters are soon under siege, desperately trying to complete the old missions. They must somehow work their way to the center of the isolated sector, resolve the fiendish puzzle of their prison and save the day. Needless to say they will have to watch out for hordes of Commie Mutant Traitors, SPY-ders, zombie clones, mad androids, fiendish algorithms and worst of all Commie propaganda from the One who wrote it all: For they are in the legendary RLS sector, sealed away from the rest of their world as a prison for that which once dominated Alpha Complex: The Dark Computer.

At least they will not have to worry about betrayal from within: Troubleshooters are loyal before anything else, and one can always count one's Citizens-in-arms. Right?
