[edit] Background

Nature has taken its toll on the human race since our lifetimes with the depletion of fossil fuels, biological and chemical warfare, disease, and famine. But humanity has survived against all adversity, albeit not unscathed. A few of the city's sectors gleam so brightly as to drown out the sun itself. The rest have a way of leeching the life out of you by their mere proximity. And the driving force behind it all is the Petran Federation.

In this time, medicine has made extraordinary advances. Cybernetic replacements are all the rage and have been operating for many years now. But the vast majority of the city's citizens can't even afford health care on par with the level of technology way back in 2000. Drugs are readily available for almost any kind of enhancement imaginable and the very finest can even effect permanent changes. Old-style, single-component food is rare and extraordinarily expensive. A vitamin-enhanced, high-protein, artificially-flavored bacterial sludge (Easy to Produce, Easy to Maintain, Easy to Eat!) comprises most meals. Space exploration, while altogether possible, has been abandoned for scientific pursuits capable of yielding more immediate results. Weaponry is frighteningly advanced, but only available to those with the highest level of clearance. Agnosticism is common, but not as fervently cherished as religions of the past. The world's cultural and biological diversity has, for the most part, dissolved into a single culture and way of life. Self-contained and isolationist city-states pepper the landscapes, with the vast majority of the world's population contained within them. Sexism and racism are things of the past, though classism is alive and viciously kicking.

Petran's eyes and ears are everywhere in Aberdeen, and the city has operated in relative monotony for many years now, but word of change is beginning to be heard. On the streets, whispers of insurrection are rapidly increasing. In the offices, grumbles about Petran's extreme security regarding all their research and technical operations. The year 2603 may be a very different one for Aberdeen, but tonight's just about a nice party, right? Right?

Nothing To Fear: More Human Than Human is a one-shot LARP that centers around the events at Petran New Year Gala in what was once the area around modern-day New York City. In a somewhat cyberpunk dystopia, the threads of corruption, oppression, and morality will intertwine in what promises to be a very satisfying BOOM!
