Lord of Dreams, Lord of Unconsciousness
[edit] Character Description
You are the Dream, the first flicker of sentience that ever existed. Before you, there was no meaning, no emotion, no memories. When you were churned into being, suddenly all of the Gods and Titans could dream. And thus, the seeds for the Battle of Creation were planted.
When the Battle started, you were young, filled with energy and hope - together you and your siblings could battle against the cruel Titans, and create a new world filled with Dreams, safe for the newly created race of mankind. Creation was a terrible struggle, and not many of you survived the battle with your creators.
When all hope was lost, you entered deep into the forgotten dreams of ARAXARA, the Great Dragon, and convinced IT to side with the Gods, not its Titan kin. Suprisingly enough, IT did - and gripping his own tail in his mouth, IT divided to old universe from the new.
Not many remember your role in Creation. They are more content following the other Old Ones - Vayasa with his Spear of Thunder, Bhagani with her Deadly Touch, Zormuz the Fiery Phoenix, Srasha and the Sword of War, and Maakshika with her venomous webs. This is fine - perhaps it is better that they think that Creation could have been won with just actions. Perhaps it is best that they forget about the Great Dragon.
After the Creation Battle ended, you engendered Lhakim, The God of Consciousness. He gave his gift to all the Gods and Men, and thus all could Speak and remember.
Among the Gods and Men, you have been largely forgotten. Lhakim could not change your nature, and so, as Speech and Thought became the modus operandi of the Divine Society, you quickly became left out. However, the Goddess Nirmala, one of Old Ones, fell quite in love with you, and the two of you were married at the Dawn of Creation. Together you had 3 Children - The Builder, The Beauty, and the Trickster. Though she left you for Zormuz (something you are still a bit sore about), you are still close to these children.
Shortly after Nirmala left you, you fell into a deep depression, and decided to Dream forever. You left your mortal cult in the hands of Vayasa (whom you consider a friend, if a bit pompous), and went into the Underworld, and stepped into the Opening Into Void.
For a while, you dreamt of nothing. And then your dreams turned dark, and horrible. You saw:
- The Dragon Uncoils, and black venom pours past it.
- The Sun falls from the sky, setting the fields on fire.
- An infant is born, with eyes the color of dried blood. It grows fangs and claws and devours it mother.
- Ghosts wander through heaven, eating the souls of your children.
- The Stranger will bring doom to you all. Kindness will not stop his wrath. And anger will just make him stronger.
- Shells. It's all shells within a shell. We are all someone elses dream, and they are WAKING UP.
You have just awoken from this terrible dream, and have rushed back into Swarha. So much has changed! You do not remember any of these new gods! But you must find out what is happening in Swarha and GAIUS, and stop your terrible visions from coming to pass!
[edit] Lineage
You were created when the Titan of Night mated with the Titan of Water.
[edit] Children
- Lhakim, God of Conscious Thought, was your greatest child. He erupted from your head after you entered the dreams of the Dragon. He sadly, is no more.
- Kiriresh, Divine Architect, is your child with Nirmala, the Good Goddess.
- Dusares, the Goddess of Beauty, is also your child with Nirmala.
- Amurru, the Trickster, is the last child you had with Nirmala.
- Nirmala is unfortunately no more - she left you for Zormuz, and then vanished.
[edit] Guides
You can guide the Dharmai culture.
[edit] Goals
- Determine what is causing your nightmares, and try to stop it.
- Preserve peace between the Gods, especially your children and grandchildren.
- Find out what happened to your wife, Nirmala. Perhaps she can be saved.
- Enjoy yourself, you don't leave Dream much.
- Keep on eye on the Awful Sisters, Death and the Spider.
[edit] Opinions
- ARAXARA: The Great Serpent. You have not seen him since the Great War.. what is he doing?
- Bhagani: Death, an Awful sister. She seeks to kill even you
- Maakshika: The Spider, another Awful sister. She's up to no good
- Vayasa: You friend and ally, but you haven't seen him in so long.
- Zormuz: The Sun God. His dreams are troubled.
- Amurru: The Trickster. You were never close to him.
- Kiriresh: The Builder. He was always too literal for your tastes
- Dusares: Your most beautiful child. She makes you very happy.
- Khet: He looks just like your missing son, Lhakim!
- Snorri: He is the Stranger from your visions!
[edit] Handsize and Powers
- Handsize: 10
- The Tongue of Dreams
- You may not speak, unless it is Night. If God has your blood in their veins, you may, if no one is watching, enter into a private dream in which the two of you can communicate freely.
- Dream Trance
- You may transmit strange images and concepts to the other god's minds. These may not take the form of words. This power is free if it target's someone in the same room as you. To target someone in another room a Custos must be present, and it may demand a toll of a Hearts card.
- And He Awoke to Find That...
- At the end of a challenge, you may declare that "it was only a dream." If you use this power, you must leave the room afterwards. Activating this power requires expending your Dream Rune for the Cycle.
- Body of Mind
- You can take on a purely mental form. Activating this power requires a Hearts card. You may walk anywhere using the "I am hiding" symbol. Anyone who wishes to see you must make a Hearts challenge against that card. You may support these challenges with your own mana. This power ends when you are seen, or when you choose to be seen.
- Delude the Senses
- If anyone makes a Spades challenge against you, they may not support.
- Enhance the Senses
- You may play Hearts as if they were Spades.
- Dwelling Behind the Eyes
- You may look through another's eyes, if they will permit it. You may follow them around "not here" for as long as you care to. Use of this power is free, but you must have your target's consent.
- Lord of Unconsciousness
- You may make challenges, and even fight duels, during the Night of the Cycle.
