[edit] Ill Winds
In ages past, the People of the Kingdom were mighty of knowledge and craft. They built houses which reached to the sky and crafted strange devices the likes of which none now understand. In their arrogance, they took up the forbidden power of the Black Wind and struck out at Elhayim Beastlord, lord of plants and animals, mightiest of spirits. In so doing they brought about their end, for as the Beastlord fell, the Jungle grew, and swallowed up the mighty Kingdom and its people in a single day.
For generations, the wrath of nature was unchecked, and the Jungle destroyed those whom it could catch, but slowly its anger cooled. Now, centuries later, the world is a single great Jungle from horizon to horizon, broken only by the peaks of the mountains and the winding streams and single great river which runs through it. The People live only in their enclaves, defended from the ever-present wilds by the precarious wards of the shamans, the guidance of the mystics, and the heroism of their leaders. The Jungle has not forgiven, even if it has forgotten - and the Black Wind which the Kingdom unleashed still howls through the trees, twisting the living and driving men mad...
