[edit] Caprona: What Ripping Fun!
Two Houses, both alike in dignity In Fair Caprona, where we lay our scene...
In an alternate Italy, on an alternate Earth, magic is very real. The rival Montana and Petrocchi families are the premiere magicians in the city-state of Caprona. Their mutual hatred dates back to the time when the head of the Montana (or was it the Petrocchi?) turned the words of the head of the Petrocchi (or was it the Montana?) into spaghetti, thus making him eat his own words. Now they are close to outright war.
To make matters worse, a number of curious and powerful outsiders have been arriving in Caprona. And no one is quite sure why.
"What Ripping Fun" is going to include elements from a number of stories by Diana Wynne Jones. Do not be surprised by transformations, curses, visitors from other worlds, wizards, witches, demons, or people really keen on cricket. Prior knowledge of her stories (or of the rules of cricket) is not necessary in the slightest!
Some specific inspirations are: "Howl's Moving Castle", "Archer's Goon", "Witch Week", the Chrestomanci series, "The Homeward Bounders," and of course, "The Magicians of Caprona".
