[edit] Game Synopsis
In the late 1860s, following the Civil war, a group of freelance investigators travel from the small city of San Fransisco to the mining town of Alpollo on the edge of Shoshoni territory. The Mayor's daughter has gone missing, and the townsfolk are suffering from pox and shoshoni cattle raids, and fear the Indians will wipe out the whole town if they don’t get more manpower. But there's something strange about the little, dusty town, something about the sinister shadow that lays across it from the gold-ridden rockies in the morning, or the scent of death on the wind.
One thing's for sure, it's gonna be a real Fandango out at old Alpollo, and yer gonna have to be a real curly wolf to stand the gaff and keep yourself out of the bone orchard.
[edit] Game Concept
This'll be a short game, 3 - 4 sessions, if you survive that long!
We'll have a character creation session where I'll show you how to use the Nemesis system. It's a cool system that allows for a lot of really specific, ugly targeted attacks and damage, has a built-in madness system, and is otherwise pretty quick and streamlined (moreso than D&D, if you've played that).
[edit] What I Need From You
Most importantly, I need you to send me a brief character concept. This means a paragraph or so about who your character is and where he or she comes from. In the post-civil-war Old West, there were all manner and sort of people migrating to the area -- gold rush, new opportunities, escape from oppression or debt. A lot of soldiers moved out that way for land grants after the war... plenty of immigration from Mexico and the Orient as well. Whether you're a hustler, gambler, bandit, pilgrim, or whatever else, for some reason you're hard up enough for cash to take the job.
Each player will get a specific mission, chosen at random, that provides their motivation for going to Alpollo.

Stats: 2 CP per 1 dice
Skills: 1 CP per 1 dice
4 CP per Expert dice
8 CP per Trump dice (GMs permission)
MONETARY SYSTEMS
$1 in the old west is worth approximately $20 today, meaning a nickel then has the same general worth as today’s dollar.
ADVANCEMENT
‘Pips’ are additional advancement units (worth less than CP.) In brief:
Skills: 1 -> 2: 10 pips, 2 -> 3: 15 pips, 3 -> 4: 20 pips, 4 -> 5: 25 pips, Expert: 25 pips
Stats: 1 -> 2: 15 pips, 2 -> 3: 20 pips, 3 -> 4: 25 pips, 4 -> 5: 30 pips
+25 pips will be awarded each game session.
+5 pips can be gained once for fleshing out your character with backstory, a character portrait, etc.
+5 pips can be gained each session for providing goodies, ala snacks, drinks, etc.
Pips can be spent in-game as well:
4 Pips: dodge gunfire for one round
4 Pips: reduce shock damage by 1
8 Pips: reduce killing damage by 1
4 Pips: increase one matches’ height by 1
8 Pips: increase one matches’ width by 1
Stats and skills can also be bought up in-game, when appropriate.
