  • Type: Campaign Tabletop
  • System: Dungeons & Dragons 4th edition(modified)
  • GMs: Abrihette

[edit] The World

Amakhet takes places in a fictional version of Ancient Egypt. The culture and world is similar to that of real Ancient Egypt with a few major exceptions.

The sun literally always shines on Egypt, there is no night. Aside from the area on either side of the Nile the land is a harsh desert with very little plant or animal life. It is, surprisingly, not very hot.

There are other counties known in the world. The ones characters would know about are Grease and Nubia. Because of their religious beliefs travel between the two countries is severely regulated. The only legal greeks in Egypt are authorized diplomats and merchants.

Nubia and Egypt have been at war for a long time. As such, most Nubians in Egypt either were or are war captives taken to be servants.

Nonhumans( Elves, Dwarves, etc.) do exist in the world though they are quite rare. The Egyptian governement considers them to be demons that should be killed on sight. Despite this, the largest concentration of nonhumans is in the Egyptian underground.

Greece considers nonhumans to be something like exotic decorations. While they are afforded most basic rights, they are rarely found in positions of power or authority. More often you will see them as honor guards or servers at high class establishments or homes.

Nubia hold a certain amount of reverence for nonhumans. Because of the Aten's hatred of the them and insistence that they be destroyed, most Nubians believe they hold the key to destroying the Aten.

[edit] Religion & Culture

The god of Egypt, in Amakhet, is the Aten, the sun disk. He is stands for light, goodness, order, and things of that general nature. Religion in Egypt is strictly restricted to worship of the Aten. All other gods are forbidden.

The Aten is highly concerned with life. Returning the dead to life is something that comes easily to the Aten's priests. As such, practically no one in Egypt dies of things like illness or accidents. Murders are practically unheard of. Old age is the only form of death the Aten has not been able to conquer, though this is not for lack of trying. It should be noted that the Aten's concern for life extends only to human nonmagic-users.

Magic is restricted to the priests of the Aten. Magic that does not come form the Aten is considered evil. It doesn’t not exist openly in society. However, for those outside the law ( bandits, tomb robbers, etc.) magic is often considered a necessary survival tool.

[edit] Character Creation

The system will be a slightly modified version of D&D 4th edition.

Everyone will start as a level 3 character, and we’ll be using the 2nd method(Customized Scores) describe in the players handbook to generate ability scores.

Because of the nature of the world no player will be able to start game as a divine class nor will they be able multiclass into one.

Backstories

Send them to me. Essentially, I want to know what brought your character here, what led them to life in the underground. For this game I highly encourage putting vague or mysterious events into your backstory as it allows me to connect you to the narrative. Sending me a detailed backstory( at least a couple of paragraphs) will also get 3 additional points to spend on ability scores at character creation. As well as other things which are not to be named here.

 Skills

I will start this out with a warning. This is an experiment. I have no idea how it will work and I reserve the right to alter or scrape this at any point it starts to become too silly. With that said. For the first level skills work normally. For each level after that you get a number of skill points equal to the number of trained skills you have. You may put these points into any skill that you have trained or is on your class list. The number of points you have in any one skill may not exceed your level.

 Languages

Are very different than they are in the books. Every PC will know Egyptian. If your character is from Greece you will also know Greek. If your character is from Nubia you will know Nubian. The Linguist feat does not exist. You may learn other languages through out the course of the game.

Equipment and Money

Players will be starting out with 8000 in residuum( which function exactly as gold in the underground). Technically, you will be getting this money during the first session but I figure it will make life easier to put it up here. You may buy any item of level 5 or lower. Implements and weapons of level 7 and lower can be purchased.

[edit] Ask About It

If there are other things you want to know about the game or just want to toss around a character let me know. Also, if you have an idea that you think would be cool but it doesn't fit within the world or the rules, talk to be about it. I tend to be a feel over rules kind of person so if it sounds interesting I'm likely to let it through. Due note that this is meant for more atmospheric and roleplay cases.
